HIKevin, as far as I know Ct doesn’t give you full access toWindows 8, and or
10.
Loudon’t have access to the Vocal plug in more some areas of Dimension pro
under both 8, and 10.
Jaws 17, as I have tested is not yet supported, don’t know if it will be at
this point, since there is no scripting in Ct.
At this point on the Pc side samplitude will be your best bet.
If you are considering the Mac side of things, I’ve yet to see a Mac version on
Sonar to come out, and if it does would be amazing.
That being said, as of Last thursday, Logic Pro continues to grow in its
accessibility to VoiceOver, and we now have the ability to go in to the mixer,
and insert sends, insert reverb, EQ effects and compressor effects, in other
words I can do the job I use to do in Sonar.
We also have access to the EXS synth which allows you to load loads of samples
out there, and have some control in its plug in to control things on wether
you’d like to have the sample play when you trigger the note, or let it go when
you release the note.
I have been working with logic, and working very closely to send loads of
feedback to apple, which has been very responsive to some of the
inaccessibilities when speaking to them.
They are very serious about making things accessible, and want to make it work
for us.
At this point yours truly is working on something for Logic, and GarageBand
which is hush until I get the go ahead to speak.
All beeng said, since I am studying int he field of Educational technology, and
work with both the PC, and Mac, saying which is better would seriously shoot me
in the foot lol.
I believe the samplitude is a fantastic solution on the PC side whilst
Protools, and for me Logic, and GarageBand and Logic meets my needs to produce
high quality sounding songs for the clients that I work for, and I am currently
training it at my centre, and privately, Logic/GarageBand that is.
Like Said, if you need to speak to me, lets set up a Skype call and talk, as
emails have a habit as you know to get muddled and all over the place.
Let me know if you’d like to schedule a call.
Finally, its all up to each and every one of you to decide which system is for
you.
I have the pleasure of working under both environments, and it suit my needs,
and the Mac for me works really well for me.
I can honestly say that I love working with Logic pro, and GarageBand.
However Sonar has always been at the top of my heart too.
Seriously can’t wait to test samplitude.Cheers.

Are you sure CT is a definite no go under Win 10, regardless of JFW version?
Cameron Strife uses SONAR 8.5 with JSONAR under Bootcamp and Win 10 with JFW
17. I know CT doesn't run under anything higher than JFW 16. But if JSONAR
can work, why not CT? With Bootcamp, Windows 10 & JFW 16?

Kevin,
If you are expecting to use the cake talking Scripps with 8.5 on a mac pro
and windows 10, it will not work…
The rule of the jungle with chords, if you are doing soft synths and native
plug-ins, more cores is always better versus speed.
And of course as much ram as you can afford to stuff in the machine is a
great advantage.
Take care,
Sean

Guys,
I need advice on whether I can run my studio using a Macbook Pro, or
whether I need a Mac Pro, i gather that it is possible to run SONAR 8.5
under Bootcamp in Windows 10. Having said that I'm not interested in the
arguments about purpose/built machines.
Tim or Phil,
You guys are using Macbook Pros. Where do you store sample libraries, or
projects? What Audio interface are you using? USB, Thunderbolt, Firewire?
Wha MIDI interface?
When considering a configuration, should I focus on clock speed, or number
of cores?
Thanks for any advice,
Kevin
