Yes. Cakewalk will be allowing folks to test it out in fall, so you
should check that out. If you are able to strip out midi and audio
out, you may be able to use something more accessible on the Mac side
like Logic, ProTools (not sure how accessible it is now), and even
reaper with the mac version of osara, which is already out, but still
needs refinements.

When considering a configuration, should I focus on clock speed, or
