Kevin, you certainly can. Like you, i many times start a project and have no
name for it until later. :)
What i do is make a folder with the project's name (same as the cwp file), then
move the cwp into it. When you next open the project, sonar will ask you if it
should create an audio folder. Likewise, if you already have existing audio for
that project, sonar will ask to search for it. In that dialog i believe you can
tell sonar to copy the audio to the project's audio folder. What i don't
remember is if sonar leaves a copy in the global audio folder; you could of
course remove it later if you'd like.
Alternatively, after creating the project folder, you can create a folder
called Audio inside it, and if you know what audio files belong to that
particular project, You can manually move them there from the global audio
folder. if you forget one, sonar will ask you for it When you open the project.
It also shows you the file names that are missing, so you can move them
manually as oppose to letting sonar do it.
If your project doesn't have audio, sonar will only ask to creat the audio
folder, and happily open the project from its new location.

Xavier,
One other thing. What happens when one has a project that was originally
created without its own per project folder and accompanying audio subfolders?
Can one select all of a project’s components and migrate them to a subfolder if
none existed initially?

Yes. The tools>clean audio folder option does just that. The trick is to point
it to your entire projects folder and not a project's subfolder.

Isn’t there a global type option that allows you to clean up unused audio and
do so not on a per project basis?

Another great option but it can be a bit time consuming.

Use the options in tools menu to remove any unused audio. Since sonar knows
what's needed and not for that particular project, you should be fine and not
lose important/needed stuff.

Subject: [ddots-l] Tips for Deleting Unwanted Audio Data from SONAR 8.5 Folders
Please remind me about the do’s and don’ts of removing unwanted audio data from
SONAR folders. I seem to remember that there is some important kind of
“gotcha” tip that it is good to remember before attempting to clear out
unwanted audio tracks, etc.
Thanks,
