Hi Damon,

A search on Google, including the quotes, for:

"Unable to register the dll/ocx: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0X3"

Brought up a zillion responses.

Did Cakewalk take you through manually registering with regsvr32?

I assume you are logged in as administrator?

Are you able to get sighted help to try installing in Safe Mode?

Have you considered installing Direct X 10?

George.

George. The error is as follows:

Error

C:\program files\cakewalk\shared plugins\fxchorus.ax

Unable to register the dll/ocx: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0X3.

Click retry to try again, ignore to proceed anyway, (not recommended),
or Abort to cancel installation

Clicking abort cancels, retry repeats the error. Ignore brings up the
same error for other cakewalk plugsins in that folder.

No error report options are given.

Cakewalk says it is adirect x issue. I am running direct x 9.0C. I
have tried installing and reinstalling direct x with no luck. Registry
scans are not fixing. I don't know what else to try. I can look for
this error online, and have tried, but found nothing solid. Will check
the link in your mail here, but I don't know if this will help much as
even Cakewalk is stumped.

Hi Damon,

Sorry if you have been asked already, but if would help to know the
full details of exactly what the regsvr32 error actually says. If you
are technically inclined, you may get some clues from the following.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/249873

Is your system set up to send error reports to Microsoft? I am a
great advocate of this, and have personal experience with a number of
developers who subscribe to Microsoft's analysis of these reports. I
would be more than surprised if the Sonar developers are not signed up
for this too. If you are, a "Bucket Number" is generated when you
send the report, which in turn allows the subscribed developer to home
in on the details of your report submission. If the developer can't
figure outthe problem, they then have access to highly experienced
Microsoft staff who will assist.

George.

OH, man, what a mess.

I go to install cakewalk sonar pe 8.3 and get an error the regsvr32
can't register the fxchorus.ax plugin. I have even stumped cakewalk
technical support, who think it is a direct x error. I have run two
registry scans from two different programs but can't get this
installed. I also get an error from z3ta about a resource folder not
being found. Does anybody have any ideas? I don't want to restore this
computer from the original image, but at the same time, I want to be
able to install sonar again. The exact error, if I can remember it
right has the code 0x3 in it from regsvr32.exe. I've looked this error
up on google with no real luck. Somebody had it with sonar 8.0.1 in
the sonar forums, but it was never discussed on how it was fixed. I
really could use the help. Plan on calling ADK today to see if they
have any ideas as it is an ADK computer, but I have doubts that
they'll know much about this. Does anybody else know or should I
restore to the original image and reinstall all my plugins again.
