It is really worth it to get the Quad, instead of the Tri, Capture. The Tri has
most I/O types, and costs a little less, but, as you're discovering, there are
several limitations that are involved in making that possible. Besides the
sample rate issue, the inputs don't have discrete channels. That is to say, you
can record from any of the inputs, but can't record from them all directly to
independent tracks. The Quad Capture only has two analog inputs, but those
inputs can accept line level, high-Z, or XLR connections, and can record
directly to separate tracks. For example, you plug a guitar in to input 1, a
mic in to input 2, hit record, and the guitar and vocal can be directly
recorded to separate tracks. Plus, you have the digital inputs for recording
two additional inputs. The Quad Capture also seems to be constructed much
better. If anyone here used any of the older Edirol/Roland UA2X or UA5X series,
or the Presonus Firebox, that is the type of build used by the Quad Capture.

Do you use a condenser mike with it? I don't have one of those yet.
But I guess you won't be able to record in 32 bit as it only support
up to 24bit/96khz. I am not very comfortable with complete setup of
these devices so I hope when I get it I will manage. And also tel me
how can I record internal sound together with the mic or RCA inputs? I
ask since the explanation in the manual don't make alot of sense to me
at the moment regarding this, each system is so different. Its
intresting that they don't allow playback and recording at the same
time in 96khz.

Hey I just checked the tricapture driver directly and it is
accessible, but when I first set it up I did so through sonar. Under
the audio tab of global options the same controll panel pops up and
you can set it up. In my oppinion the soundcard sounds great, but like
you at the moment I don't need anything more powerfull. Also, no
noticeable latency. I do recommend it. (note this is the only audio
interface I have ever owned lol)

Thank you very much, wel I am glad to here that. It is my
understanding that if the software allow you to set all the options
needed then maybe its not necessary for using the driver control
panel? Correct me on this but its of corse always better if it is
indeed accessible. I don't no how it sound but I don't really need a
more powerful cart at the moment.

Hey if your talking about setting and adjusting the buffer size, yes
it's accessible when you use it along with the asio 4 all. I've mostly
used mine as my soundcard for sonar to controll latency. I haven't
done much audio work in terms of recording vocals, so I couldn't tell
you how to set the recording levels, but I think you can do that with
the windows volume mix controlls. I hope that answered your question.

Hi all, I am intrested in the roland tricapture. I won't use it with
Sonar strate away, but I do want to use it with more simpler software
for now. So I was wondering if anyone no if the driver control panel
is accessible? And if not, how could I get around it? I didn't do to
much audio work yet as I use midi mostly.
Thank you for any advice.
