Is Sonar able to use more than 2GB in 32 bit systems? I don't want to get
another motherboard right now.

Having more than 3gb might or might not help, it is mostly believed that
windows xp can adiquitly handle 3. Some apps can only use 2gb and can't go
past it, others can theoretically go up to 4, though you'll never really see
"4gb" of available ram on a 32bit system, it's just the way the x86 platform
works and the number of reserved addresses on x86 computer systems.

Will four GB work fine with a 32 bit system? Will sonar be able to use the
extra ram even though I'm still on XP?

How do I determine if it's a cakewalk file?

Since you only got 2gb, if you've got room on that board, you can add
another 1 to 1.5 gig and windows xp should still see them; it goes upto
3.5gb, depending on your system hardware configuration.
If you want mor than 4 gb (I recommend 6 at the minimum), you'll need
windows7 x64; your motherboard and CPU should support 64bit OS, if you've
got anything above pentium-d CPU. If your board is older however, it could
probably only support 4gb, even if it's running a 64bit OS; 4gb for a 64bit
OS is too little for daw use IMO.
Regarding your problem, it could just be a cakewalk problem or something
with 1 of their files on your system, since those 3 synths are all from
cakewalk, no other synth does this? And I doubt pentagon or psyn II take up
that much memory.

I don't understand why this happens. Whenever I bounce an audio track to
clips or whenever I frees a soft synth, some of my other soft synths that
are not frozen will begin to play with a very choppy glitching sound. I have
to close the project in order to get them to play normally again. The only
thing that prevents this from happening is to frees them. can anyone tell me
why this is happening? It happens with dimension pro and with Psym 2 and
with pentagon.

I'm thinking that this may be a memory issue. I'm running sonar on windows
XP pro 32 bit and my CPU is a duel core Intel with two gigs of ram. A friend
told me that in order to take advantage of the four gigs available I need to
either get windows 7 or upgrade to a 64 bit motherboard.

Is this a memory issue? If not how do I resolve this issue?
