Just make sure that the MIDI track of the soft synth is armed and that the
vocal track is also armed. Don't assume that because you're focused on a
particular track, it's necessarily armed. It may not be.

I have not tried to do that, however, I seem to remember that the tutorial
mentions that if you want to record several midi tracks at the same time,
you would need to arm and turn input echo on for all tracks you want to
record. So, you should try that, make sure that both the vocal track and
the instrument track are armed.

Were you focused in the midi track of the soft synth when you had the vocal
track armed? I've never tried to record a vocal track while recording a midi
track, but it would seem that your sound card should be able to handle it.

Hello,
This is the first time i've tried this: I was recording a client today who
is a pianist and singer. He likes recording and playing simultaneously. I
used a vst piano and had an audio track armed for his vocals. I wasn't aware
of this, but apparently, softsynths midi tracks don't record anything if you
have an audio track armed? Is this correct? If so, how do you remedy the
situation?
