I couldn't find the leaflet on the RNIB website -- must not have used the correct search terms. There is a listing of the IPA and the corresponding braille symbols in the BANA "Braille Formats" book, Rule 18, Section 4f. In addition to purchasing the book from the American Printing House for the Blind, www.aph.org, the Braille Formats guidelines, without the examples, can be found at www.brl.org/formats. The braille symbol is followed by the print pronunciation symbol which is followed by a written description of the symbol, such as 'ethel, o-e ligature' or 'phi' or 'slashed zero, null or empty set.' There may be some differences in the BAUK choices for braille representations for the print symbols. I haven't seen the two codes written side by side. Mary Lou Stark
