Um, I'm not going to go there. At least not without more information and sighted help.

I did have a demo copy of DBT 10.3 or 10.4, I forget which, a while back and it worked fine then. I did a Google search and ended up on some archived messages for this list and it mentioned something about enabling escape codes on my embosser. I'm using the Thomas default settings on menu 1.

I'm going to try a few things later today and I'll report back if I am able to fix the problem.

Hi Jean,

Unless someone has some other suggestions, my first guess
would be that the BIOS of your computer is not set for SPP
(Standard Parallel Port).  (Or, if it is a fairly new
embosser, it could be the opposite and need to be set for
EPP or ECP)

Unfortunately access to BIOS with speech is not possible, so
you will need sighted assistance.  Likewise access to the
BIOS and the BIOS itself is not common to all systems.  That
said some PC's, like my Toshiba here, do provide a Windows
program which can make changes to BIOS.
