Thank you Kaari. That is exactly what I needed to know. What reference did you find that in? I'm going to mark it with a flag when I get back to my office so I'll know where to find it in the future. In print, this is usually done by putting parentheses around the negative number. In braille, I?ll quote: ?Occasionally, 2 of these signs may be placed sequentially as in plus plus, plus minus, minus plus, or minus minus. In those cases, the first sign is often a sign of operation, add or subtract, and the second is used to indicate a directed numeral, positive or negative. When this occurs, separate the 2 braille symbols by inserting a dot 5 between them. This indicates that the second sign is part of a signed numeral. The number or symbol after the second sign does not require a numeric indicator.? So 7- -1 should be brailled as (number sign) 7 (minus sign)(dot 5)(minus sign) 1 From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Katie.Culbertson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2007 9:44 AM To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxuser] nemeth question I'm away from my nemeth references and can't remember the correct way to braille this. 7 - -1 = seven minus negative one equals.
