Mark,
It seems that Word does not allow you to increase the size of the text
displayed in the spell-checker.
Would you consider using NVDA or Narrator to read it?
I prefer NVDA myself but Narrator is already built-in to Windows. The speaking
voice in Narrator is very good nowadays.
