I think you’ll be surprised how much difference it can make. Now Fusion drives
should be faster than regular rotating because of the caches involved etc but
still you should see a definite bump in disk access speed.

Absolutely, SSD drives are drastically faster than mechanical drives or
hybrid drives. Some things will be similar if they were stored in the
memory portion / cache but when you go all SSD it’s optimized and
considering there’s no moving parts they scream as far as speed is concerned.

drives in other words) The machine I’m expecting next week has a 1TB SSD
drive so to the obvious question I guess, should I expect to see any
performance gains from a machine with a dedicated SSD drive over a machine
with a Fusion drive?
