I'm wondering if it's something specific to their mail server. I'm assuming
you are using IMAP for the account?

if there is no focus or simply toggle off VoiceOver and toggle it back on.
What kind of email account are you using. I've noticed that with Gmail
accounts, sometimes, the mail doesn't immediately get deleted by the server
at times.

I am using the latest version of High Sierra.
I also am using a late 2012 iMac.
In apple mail I frequently get a message telling no focused item.
I have to get out of apple mail and this goes away for a while.
My other issue is I delete several messages and they are still in the list
until I close apple mail.
Is there something I can do to correct these issues?
