How do you think it is "much better" and for what use cases?
By way of example, Nerves (
https://nerves-project.org/) is a Linux
distribution which is based on Elixir and Erlang. It uses an Erlang
supervision tree to start and run system daemons, so it's reliable
and fail soft. Nerves images are also much smaller than Raspbian's.
That said, I wouldn't use Nerves for a general purpose installation.
