Can you recommend a quick start guide for void linux? I think how to use the
package manager would be key.
The Void Linux wiki has everything you need to get started. Key points are that
(1) default login is username root, password voidlinux. (2) xbps is the package
manager, you use xbps-install <package name> to install a package, xbps-install
-Suv to upgrade the system, xbps-remove to remove a package, and xbps-query -Rs
<string> to query the repositories for installable packages. I have posted a
talking RPI image,
http://45.33.70.200/void-rpi.zip, that comes preloaded with ;
everything to get started on the Pi, including googler, mocp, Mike's PiESpeakup
that bypasses the default sound audio hardware rendering eSpeak in the GPU
(which allows compilation with Espeak-NG), some other odds and ends. If you are
wanting to know how to install Void from a rootFS tarball, or how to build
images from the build scripts in the Void GIT repo, you should read the Void
Linux wiki, which as stated previously contains all the information necessary
to get a good grasp of Void Linux basics.

components to do their job?
Either way, I'd be interested to hear of anyone else who has dealt with
sound not working correctly and if/how you fixed it. I'm sure there's some
stupidly simple but ridiculously obscure detail hiding in plain sight (no
