Flip,
If you first boot without the HDMI cable plugged into the rPI, it will send
output to the speaker port, but booting with the HDMI cable plugged in on
the first boot sets it to send audio out the HDMI cable.
So if you first set it up without the HDMI cable, you should be able to plug
it in later and keep the audio coming out the audio port and not the HDMI
audio.

I think it can wait.
What I'm trying to do is
to have all (and I mean all) audio come out
the headphone jack and still have a monitor hooked up
as my wife will be using this pi as well as me.
The monitor doesn't have speakers but it is an HDMI monitor, is this
even possible?
