If you want to have speech without the needing to install pispeakup, you
may find useful the images available in the downloads section of the
Raspberry Vi website:
http://www.raspberryvi.org/stories/downloads.html
There is raspbian jessie and it should include pispeakup, so you'll have
speech as soon as you write the image in the SD Card.

Hi,
Do you guys have any suggestions on making sure i can get speech on the
Raspberry Pi as soon as possible?
I am wanting to buy a Raspberry Pi to do some tinkering, but do want to know
what is best, and any advice for speech as I am blind so using a screen is
kind of pointless. Though I will have one.
