Hello.
The reason a lot of us run the console only and never bother with a GUI
is because most of the time it is faster for doing the stuff we want to do.
I challenge anybody to find files and directories, or move files around
with a GUI file manager.
The console screen-reader using the OMX code I wrote is fine but I have
not yet written a speech-dispatcher driver for it. As far as I know if
you don't use an external USB sound device then the espeak speech will
stutter as badly in Orca as it does in the console without using the OMX
code.
I have not yet bothered to write the speech-dispatcher driver since most
folks who want the GUI are willing to use a USB sound device and I have
very little use for the GUI myself.
