can you describe for me what should be done to avoid Espeak stuttering on Raspi
with Orca and GUI environment?
Does this problem appear on the classic desktop / laptop computers as well?
Is there any workaround to solve this or there is no way except purchasing the
external USB soundcard for the Pi as you described yesterday?

The short answer is no.
The longer answer is noooooooo.
No seriously...the serial bus on the GPIO pins is unbuffered so you
would need something like a MAX232 TTL to RS232 converter. But you will
run into the same problem. There is no hardware handshake available.
If somebody could re-write the SpeakUp hardware synth modules to use
xon/xoff and then persuade the hardware synth to use the same then
maybe. But I think overall it is not a goer.
In theory it would be possible to pass /dev/ttyAMA0 to the kernel
SpeakUp modules but it's pointless for the above reasons.
Now, there is a speech-synthesis shield for the Arduino, can't remember
the name of it offhand, and it might be possible to write a chunk of
code for the Arduino to turn it into a serial hardware synth to connect
to the Pi over GPIO, but it would not be cheap and again, I'm not sure
whether the SpeakUp modules would work with it. Because, no hardware
handshake.
If this was possible I might look at writing a speech-dispatcher driver
for it because writing sd synth modules is relatively easy, but I'm not
optimistic it would result in anything that brings much to our party.
All this is a great shame because a lot of the now largely redundant
hardware speech synthesisers are very nice bits of kit, and of course it
offloads another chunk of resource to an external device, freeing up
resources on the Pi. Personally I would love to get my Apollo II and my
DECTalk going again.

Hello Erik,
Nice idea. I have here a Dolphin Apollo II, a Dolphin Juno and a
DECTalk external synth.
It would be nice to be able to make a driver for speech-dispatcher to
use these, or for SpeakUp to be able to use them.
But, as far as I know, at least the Apollo II, and probably also the
other external hardware synths, all use hardware-handshaking which is
not available on a USB to serial adaptor. If that is completely true,
and I am pretty sure it is at least for the Dolphin synths, then it
can't be done.

All the tutorials for what I want to do such as samba and donido are for
