April 29 (SUNDAY) - Ken Oeser will lead us on a field trip of Rockland
Recreation Area, April 29th, 7 a.m., at Old Hickory Dam in Hendersonville,
Sumner County.
We will meet at the end of Power Plant Road at 7 a.m. Enter the park and stay
right. After a half mile, take a right at the stop sign and continue a quarter
mile to the end of the road and parking spots on the left. Warblers and
Orioles are common here in migration, and water birds can be found below and
above the dam. The best birding is in the field next to the parking area,
where birds feed, nest, and sing from the trees. Trails also go into the woods
in several directions.
