[TN-Bird] Re: Strange and sad find

From my days working at a wildlife rehabilitation center, I can tell you
this happens VERY often.  And it isn't just birds. (Though birds are
frequent) Garter and other species of snakes, chipmunks, baby squirrels,
lizards, all manner of invertebrates, and likely even salamanders and
frogs, FREQUENTLY become unintended victims.  Glue traps are NOT a
humane way to deal with nuisance wildlife, not even for the intended
victims.

I'll never forget the day several years ago when I was at the vet's with
my cat and a lady came in carrying one of those small velcro targets, a
child's toy... I guess they throw balls at the target.... with a
chickadee stuck to it.  The poor little bird's wings were spread and
held fast by the velcro.  They advised her to take it to UT; I gave her
the name of a rehabber but didn't have a phone number.. I don't imagine
it ended well.
