I just joined this list after coming back from a trip to North Carolina, the highlight of which was going out with Brian Pateson to see pelagic birds (I added my first life birds since 1997), and I am hoping to get more involved in birding in TN. I must admit that because of other activities and responsibilities (I am a professor at MTSU with a heavy research load, write children's books, and have the usual family responsibilities, including the raising of a 10 yr old) I have not birded in TN for several years. My TN list stands at 215, not much more than the threshold ABA requires. In any case I will be religiously reading my mail for good birds as I am up for chases within about a hundred miles or so of Nashville. Good luck, and I hope to see you in the field. Tim, I need a brown-headed nuthatch and I am not familiar with the Cookeville area. And is there a way to see the birds without playing golf?
