I went by Crewes Channel after work Thursday and hiked all the way to the back
side. It has become very overgrown with thick tall grass and with blackberry
bushes that have very sharp thorns!
The front area was basically empty except for a white egret and a great blue
heron deep in the back of the pond.
The back pond was quiet but did produce a few birds. My highlight was a
red-headed woodpecker that posed nicely for me to get a few pictures. There
were several of them around on the dead trees. There was also an immature bald
eagle, 3 additional white egrets, a hawk (not sure the species, too far away),
another GBH, and a few deer.
