On this sunny day our group of eight tallied 42 species. Highlights included
good looks at a catbird and tree swallow, and FOS ring- billed gull. With the
river still high and relatively fast, there was a paucity of waterfowl. The
eagle's nest seems to have weathered Sandy well although the tree may have lost
another branch. The park seems to have fared well during Sandy.
The walk meets at 8:00am in the visitor's center parking lot and all are
welcome. -- Marshall Rawson, McLean VA
