The 13 birders on this morning's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk had to
bundle up as the tempreatures were in the 40s with heavy clouds blocking out
the sun. Nevertheless, we spotted 40 species, with the highlights being a
Marsh Wren and a King Rail found in the same small section of wetland near the
Boardwalk. The Red-headed Woodpeckers we have been finding for the past
several weeks did not disapoint, and
the group's first White-throated Sparrows of the season were around in
abundance, and finally, Virginia Rails made their apearance again.
