The rain kept the birders away but not the birds on this morning's Huntley
Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk. There were 4 of us, and we spotted 35
species.
We didn't see the Dowitchers reported yesterday, but we did get a couple of
Wilson's Snipe, a large group of Great Egrets, and a very large flock of
Red-winged Blackbirds that moved in smaller groups of 30 - 50 individuals
separated by about 15 seconds. Seemed somewhat odd. We spotted a couple of
Song Sparrows, perhaps the first of the season. The rain held off, so it was a
beautiful morning.
