A juvenile White Ibis topped the list of birds seen on this morning's Huntley
Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk. Along with the Ibis, the 25 birders spotted
another 49 species. Other highlights included many Killdeer and many Green
Herons, and a single Wood Thrush. The Ibis was among Great Blue Herons and
Great Egrets along the far edge of the central wetlands. Birders are advised
that the Monday Morning Birdwalk will be affected by the resurfacing of the
Huntley Meadows boardwalk due to begin in August and to continue for about 2
months. Birders planning to take part on the walk should check the VA Bird
Listserv or the Huntley Meadows staff for any changes to the normal routine
during this construction period.

The Monday Morning Birdwalk has been a weekly event at Huntley Meadows since
1985. It takes place every week, rain or shine, at 7AM (8AM during December,
January and February), is free of charge, requires no reservation, and is open
to all. Birders meet in the parking lot at the Park's entrance at 3701 Lockheed
Blvd, Alexandria, VA. Questions should be directed to Park staff during normal
