The Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk drew a group of 20 birders this
week, and were able to spot 43 species. Our highlights included a pair of
Barred Owls hunting in the wooded area adjacent to the parking lot; a Juvenal
Bald Eagle who landed for a couple of minutes on a dirt mound in the central
wetlands, giving the group's paparazzi types a good photo op; and two Virginia
Rails seen and heard in the center loop of the boardwalk. Birders are reminded
that the Monday Morning walk will revert to its summer hours next week, April
2, and set off at 7AM.
