Twenty birders took part in today's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk,
and we spotted 51 species. Our highlights were shorebirds. With the water
level down in the central wetland, 8 species of migrating shorebirds were
sighted. A little on the unusual side were one Stilt Sandpiper and 3 Pectoral
Sandpipers. Least Sandpipers were in great abundance, and they produced a show
of syncopated aerial flights as they reacted to nearby hawks .
