This morning's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk attracted 16 birders who
spotted 44 species on a clear, cool, calm morning. The birders felt that the
sighting of a pair of Belted Kingfishers may have been the day's highlight.
Kingfishers have been absent from the Huntley marshes for some time, and it is
encouraging to see them again. We note again a complete lack of Canada Geese
for about the fifth or sixth Monday in a row, as well as no Great Blue Herons.

The Monday Morning birdwalk has been a weekly event at Huntley Meadows since
1985. It takes place every week, rain or shine, at 7 AM, is free of charge,
requires no reservation, and is open to all. Birders meet in the parking lot
at the Park's entrance at 3701 Lockheed Blvd, Alexandria, VA. For questions
