An autumn chill greeted the 14 birders for this morning's Huntley Meadows
Monday Morning Birdwalk. The group spotted only 36 species. The day was
beautiful, but it seemed strange how many members of the group seemed hesitant
to leave the sunny (warm) boardwalk for the cool shade of the woods. Perhaps
we're getting soft. Highlights were 2 Savannah Sparrows, a great flock of
Yellow-rumped Warblers around the parking lot, and over 200 Red-winged
Blackbirds in the cattails. Puzzlingly, we found a pair of frozen sweatpants
along the boardwalk - bespeaking a story we probably do not want to hear.
