The bravest of the Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk regulars showed up
this morning ready for cold, wet birding. There were 13 of us, and we tallied
33 species. The highlights included enormous populations of female Red-winged
Blackbirds; well over 100 commuting American and Fish Crows; and a Merlin
perched in one of the snags along the informal trail that parallels Barnyard
Run. It was cold, wet and breezy . . . but it is still better than work!
