It appears to me as though the apparent difference in size may be due to
different positioning by the two birds. The rump of the further back (right)
bird looks higher up than the left bird which I think helps throw off the
perception of size of the two. In terms of sexual dimorphism (male larger than
female, or vice versa) is not strongly present in Carolina Wrens. If you were
to have a bird in hand you might be able to tell the sexes apart from the
length of their wing (slightly longer in males by at most a few millimeters) or
tail. That said, there is a decently high likelihood that these two wrens
represent a breeding pair since Carolina Wrens tend to mate for life and often
stay together throughout the entire non breeding season meaning one bird may be
slightly larger than the other.
