Which version of the iPhone do you have? I have the iPhone 3GS myself
running IOS 5.01. Can you go to Voiceover in
settings>Accessibility>Voiceover and check all the various options that are
available? Is it possible that you may not have Voiceover set on fully?
Also, I have found that I needed to work hard to bring up the volume control
because it had dropped too low. In fact, on one occasion I thought
Voiceover was not working and after much pressing of the "volume up" button
on the side of the iPhone it gradually came up to an audible level.

All the best,

Subject: [vip_students] IPhone and Voiceover

Hi Folks

I'm having a problem with voiceover on my IPhone- it will only speak when
there is an incoming call i.e telling me the caller's name but it just won't
speak when I try to read the screen. The ringer works but the dong when a
text comes in doesn't sound either only vibrates. I have turned it off
completely and re-sinked it. Also restored it to factory settings and
re-loaded all my data but it still won't read. Can anyone suggest a remedy?

Thanks in advance

Geraldine
