Hi Eleanor and Cearbhall Thanks for responses. I'm using iPhone 4 with the most up to date software so I'm presuming it is IOS 5.01 also. The volume seems to be fine as voiceover will say clearly the caller's name when there is an incoming call but that is all it will read. Will check voiceover settings, as you suggest, with sighted help later today. Many thanks Geraldine -----Original Message----- From: vip_students-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:vip_students-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Cearbhall O'Meadhra Sent: 14 January 2012 00:45 To: vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [vip_students] Re: IPhone and Voiceover Which version of the iPhone do you have? I have the iPhone 3GS myself running IOS 5.01. Can you go to Voiceover in settings>Accessibility>Voiceover and check all the various options that are available? Is it possible that you may not have Voiceover set on fully? Also, I have found that I needed to work hard to bring up the volume control because it had dropped too low. In fact, on one occasion I thought Voiceover was not working and after much pressing of the "volume up" button on the side of the iPhone it gradually came up to an audible level. The ringer works but the dong when a text comes in doesn't sound either only vibrates. I have turned it off completely and re-sinked it. Also restored it to factory settings and re-loaded all my data but it still won't read. Can anyone suggest a remedy? Thanks in advance Geraldine
