Hi Geraldine. You've probably sorted this out already but while browsing the VICS site looking for info to help me with my new Iphone, I came across the following question and answer. Sabrina, I recommend that you keep pressing the volume up button on the side of the iPhone until it comes up. I have found that unplugging the earphone jack can sometimes knock the volume control down to a low level. But while I could not get voice over back on I put the headphones on and could hear voice over then. But since, I can't get the headphones to work any ideas on what I should do? Thanks, ;-) Sabrina (who won't have that little handy keypad till next year!) lol -----Original Message----- From: vip_students-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:vip_students-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Geraldine Looney Sent: 16 January 2012 15:14 To: vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [vip_students] Re: IPhone and Voiceover Hi Paul Getting full feedback from voiceover with headphones but there is no change to the loudspeaker after switching off. Will pop into the Apple store with it tomorrow. Thanks a million for all your help, am delighted to be able to use the phone again even only with headphones. Try playing a song with the music app on your phone and if that works, turn off the phone, remove the ear piece and start up the phone again then see if anything plays just using the normal phone speaker. Other than something like this, I would then take it back to the shop if it doesn't work. But what I have discovered and is a bit extraordinary is that when I am on a call I can navigate the phone listening to messages etc but can't do anything otherwise! If your phone is an IOS5 4S model then press the "Home button" three times quickly in order to turn off accessibility. Now after about 10 seconds, again repeat the press of the home button three times to turn back on accessibility and see what happens. The ringer sounds loudly and voiceover announces the name of caller and that is the only time voiceover speaks. When the mute switch is pushed back the phone will only vibrate and there is no voiceover at all as was always the case. Got any other suggestions 'cos I'm baffled! This causes speech to be reduced and for the unit to only vibrate when activated in some manner such as a phone call. To unmute it, locate the switch which is on the very top left side of your IPhone unit. Now with the IPhone screen facing you, pull the switch forward, "Toward the front of the Phone". The switch moves forwards and backwards as you'll notice and if pushed back it will mute the phone. The ringer works but the dong when a text comes in doesn't sound either only vibrates. I have turned it off completely and re-sinked it. Also restored it to factory settings and re-loaded all my data but it still won't read. Can anyone suggest a remedy? Thanks in advance Geraldine -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter.
