It is no option for such a thing because a microphone needs a soundcard in
use in order to function properly.
If your question is about recording just your microphone but not the speech
from your screen reader, then yes, this could be possible but it is
necessary to know more about your setup.
Do you use a USB mixer? You have activated stereo mix? Do you use an usb
micophone or a built-in one?
When you talk about your projects actually what do you do with this?

Subject: [audacity4blind] Record sound card audio
After not using my Macbook for some time, I found I had removed Audacity. So
I loaded the current version.
Works fine. One question I have is that it records what Voiceover is saying
in addition to my mic.
Is there a way to have Audacity only use the mic and not the sound card?
At some point it could be helpful to record the voice, but not for my
current projects.
