have to find and install the Yamaha drivers before ever plugging in either one
of these mixers to the USB port otherwise windows will install the default
windows audio driver which will not work on your computer. also, the utility
software that allows you to makeadjustments to certain effects is not screen
reader friendly either. Mark do, who is also on this list, is researching a new
mixer that, hopefully, will be plug and play. If I cannot get the Yamaha mixer
that was given to me in December To work, I will be selling it and probably
buying the mixer that Mark is testing, assuming it works as described.
Currently I use a dual channel audio interface called M-track, which is USB,
and it allows me to use my ex LR sure SM 58 microphone with little to no
problem. I bought it about four or five years ago for under $100. I liked it so
much, I bought a second one for my second laptop. Because there are two
channels, and I use it in stereo voice chat rooms, I had to get a Y adapter XL
our cable. Otherwise, a single mono channel is fine for channel 1 or two.

I wanted to use audacity, since I can record in a better quality than the built

inadvertently bumping into the mic or stand, or drifting too far.
If it would help to use a mixer, what kind would you recommend. Low budget. At
most two XLR inputs, I only have two XLR mics at the moment. And possibly
mixing in or attaching an external device. Either a digital recorder, or adding
in an outside audio source such as a phone or other noise making device to mix
in.

It is no option for such a thing because a microphone needs a soundcard in
use in order to function properly.
If your question is about recording just your microphone but not the speech
from your screen reader, then yes, this could be possible but it is
necessary to know more about your setup.
Do you use a USB mixer? You have activated stereo mix? Do you use an usb
micophone or a built-in one?
When you talk about your projects actually what do you do with this?

Subject: [audacity4blind] Record sound card audio
After not using my Macbook for some time, I found I had removed Audacity. So
I loaded the current version.
Works fine. One question I have is that it records what Voiceover is saying
in addition to my mic.
Is there a way to have Audacity only use the mic and not the sound card?
At some point it could be helpful to record the voice, but not for my
current projects.
