In print one and a half is written 1 1/2. There is a space between the
whole number and the fraction. When listening to that with a screen
reader, though, it is not always apparent that the space is there unless
one slows down the screen reader to spell it out. I suppose in a recipe it
is not likely that one will come across eleven halves, but other fractions
may not be so apparent. That makes me wonder if it would be good to come
up with some way to seperate the whole number from the fraction so that a
screen reader would read the seperation.

goes between the numerator and the denominator without spaces. Hope this

over 2 in one individual space (sorry I can't make this symbol in e-mail).
