Somehow I missed the two-week limit on holds discussion. I checked the list,
and indeed there are holds from Nov. & Dec. 2009, as well as this past January.
What decision was made re the books with holds on them? I would expect that
anyone who wanted could take such a book, unless someone posted to please leave
he hold? With a 5-book limit, if someone is working on books that require a lot
of time to proof, he/she can't download another book. to get it off the
ready-to-check-out list. There are some books that might require a particular
person to proof, because he/she is sighted, or has ordered the book, or is to
translate the book into Spanish or another language, or for some other reason.
Is it preferable to have suc h books on the checkout list or off it, on the
being-processed l ist because it's in a person's to-be-proofed pile.
