[bksvol-discuss] Re: the inability to get books aproved

I haven't heard any noises about Bookshare ending its practice of receiving books from volunteers, but it would just about make sense. Only a pretty small minority of Bookshare books are processed by volunteers anymore and it does seem to make for extra work in house. If it ever does happen I would hope that the outsourcer role would be increased. Otherwise, there would be no channel for indy books to get into the collection.

“This is what science always has to do, but religion will not do that. While scientists themselves may be religious individuals of many different faiths, their methodology was designed to be the antithesis of faith—it requires that all assumptions be questioned, that all proposed explanations be based on demonstrable evidence, and that all hypotheses be testable and potentially falsifiable. Blaming magic is never acceptable because miracles aren't explanations of any kind, and there has never been a single instance in history when assuming the supernatural has ever improved our understanding of everything. In fact, such excuses have only ever impeded our attempts at discovery.” ― Aron Ra, Foundational Falsehoods of Creationism

Larry, I agree with you, and at the very least volunteers need to receive an
update on the progress of the resolution of this problem.
I know nothing about programming, but how on earth could fixing this issue
take so long!

I'm getting extremely frustrated with this problem. It has been months now
since we've been able to get books approved. I was a programmer for 16
years. If I'd been assigned to a project to fix a problem like this and it
had taken this long, I'd have been fired.
