I should have been clearer.

Your reply gives me a chance to amend my previous message.

I didn't say that it was unimportant to me, I only suggested that it might be unimportant to Bookshare.

Amanda's quick response reassures me somewhat, but not completely.

Call me cynical if you want to, but just as an illustration, suppose we were talking about a different problem, say, one that prevented Bookshare from collecting membership fees. How long do you think it would take them to fix that? I guarantee it wouldn't be months.

Now I know it's unrealistic to expect that getting volunteer produced books into the collection would be of equal priority to collecting money. But we're going on four months now. Amanda's reply would seem to indicate that getting that fixed is at least not a no priority issue. But after all this time, it's hard to escape the conclusion that it is  a pretty low priority one.

I didn't say it was unimportant to me.

Volunteer produced books may be a very tiny proportion of additions to
the collection these days, but I still get to add books that wouldn't
otherwise get in there. That is meaningful to me and it benefits members
also.

If it's so unimportant, then why continue to volunteer?  I used to do a good

worthwhile.  Depressing, really.  I enjoyed the work.
If Bookshare still values its volunteers, then they should make this a higher
priority.

Well, it can take so long if it is a low priority, or no priority item.

Books contributed by volunteers are a very tiny proportion of books
being added to the collection these days. Resources are limited. It may
have been decided that devoting any of those limited resources to fixing
whatever is wrong is just not worth the relatively tiny benefit to
Bookshare's collection.

I have no idea of course. I'm just speculating. But you know the old
saying, action, (or in this case, inaction), speaks louder than words.

Larry, I agree with you, and at the very least volunteers need to receive an

I know nothing about programming, but how on earth could fixing this issue
take so long!

I'm getting extremely frustrated with this problem. It has been months now
since we've been able to get books approved. I was a programmer for 16
years. If I'd been assigned to a project to fix a problem like this and it
had taken this long, I'd have been fired.
