hello everyone
i've been following this thread with interest but haven't had much
time to write. i want to thank you Sadhana for your post, which is
very much in line with my own experience - i.e. "Love and awareness
are, in my experience able to carry and transform another's pain and
negativity."
I work with the tonglen practice which is a Tibetan Buddhist practice
that I learned from Pema Chodron, where you breath in the 'dark'
energy (our own or other people's) into the heart centre and
transform it and send it out as love, light, and compassion. The
practice is described in Pema's book - When Things Fall Apart. I also
know that in the Sufi tradition they have a similar approach.
Thanks to all for your thoughtful posts.

Hello Zaquie,
Thankyou for sharing the perspective that we are all vulnerable when
exposed to
too many negative energies. I have also noticed that we are only
able to
transform negativities when we are vulnerable enough to absorb them.
It is my
observation that within esoteric and different metaphysical healing
modalities
there is a collective fear that underpins many protective rituals
and cleansing
practices. Fear of negativity or evil influence. However I also have
great
respect for ritual and the sacred in preserving safe growth
environments, so
please don't misunderstand me.
I would like to share a technique that I have found to be far more
effective
than any other I have tried, when it comes to protection, keeping
one safe and
preventing the absorption and personal holding of negative energies.
The
technique is a meditation called Atisha's heart meditation. For
those interested
you just need to google ATISHA and much will come up. This
meditation actually
does the opposite to protection modality. It's method is one of
absorption of
taking in fully the negative effects that reveal themselves to us.
It's focus is
to breathe in the negative effect directly into the centre of the
heart and
breathe out the love or positivity. It begins with absorption of
outer effects
and moves to transformation of the inner effects. It actually gives
a technique
that shows us the way to carry guilt and innocence with dignity and
love. In
practicing this we also carry each other with love and awareness.
Afterall,
anothers pain is also our pain, anothers feeling our feeling.... in
essence of
sameness. I have found this technique to develop a great inner
strength that
helps overcome fear of anything negative inside or outside. Taking
fully
oneself and others, is actually the way to carry life. We are all,
the vehicles
for the divine and "carrying" the whole (positive and negative) is
very
relevant.
Michael and a few others were questioning if carrying someone elses
pain is
relevant, or should an individual carry their own? "Can these two
perspectives
make sense together?" What carrys all of us is love and that makes
perfect
sense. The problem is awareness is also needed to discern what is
true and what
is not. Love and awareness are, in my experience able to carry and
transform
anothers pain and negativity. It just happens as a consequence.
If anyone would like a copy of Atishas heart meditation you are
welcome to
contact me.
Kind regards
Sadhana

Dear Stephen,
My name is Zaquie C Meredith and I am from Brazil. Hopefully we will
meet soon
in Peru as I will be travelling to Lima next September 20th to do some
constellation work with Julio Príncipe as well as visit Machu Pichu,
my long
time dream.
I have had back pain during many years of my life so I know what you
are talking
about. But I have something to say about energy. I have studied
energy field
with B.Brennan for 4 years in the States and from our point of view
I can tell
you that, yes, we are all vulnerable when we are exposed to too many
negative
energies.
Not everybody thinks as you do. Not everybody processes like we do.
Not
everybody has the highest vibrations as we hope they do.
However, one must have a breaking point to allow this negative
energy to come
into. A vulnerable point, a "weak"point where this negative energy
finds a
ressonance and then it enters and it "fixes"there. Right in your
most vulnerable
point. Check what it is - your vulnerable point perhaps it may be
carrying
(energetically) the pain for others when they should be doing for
themselves.
The way I clear the environment and this seems to help much as we
are dealing
with many consciences present or no more present is to make an
energy circle of
protection before doing my workshops. I start the circle from the
left to the
right and I bless each chair and I bless everyone who enters into
that room and
I bless everyone who goes out of that room. I also use incense
before and after.
It only takes a few minutes and I sense this leaves the room so much
clearer at
no cost.
I also take a long hot bath after the workshops, eat some good food
and do
something that will distract me in a quiet way. Quiet way and early
night sleep.
I am a new person the next day. This has been working for me and
this is my help
to you- hope you appreciate it. If you want to know more please e-
mail me.
Looking forward to meet with you and Julio in Lima,
Zaquie C Meredith
