I'm aware it will take time and my teacher, Heinz Stark, has created a field in
the USA as well as others. The "convention" in Nov 2005 will be a huge step
forward. Many of us have met at Hellinger's US seminars and are in touch
through Sheila and Andrea's efforts to keep us abreast of who is doing the work
so we can refer people to each other. We each have to find our own way.

Diane, I don't have an answer for you but a few thoughts for all of us
perhaps in relation to Chris' original concern as well as for your questions.
My exposure to Family System Constellations has lead me deeper into an
exploration of "fields" and Sheldrake's work. Because of my own life
challenges, I am exploring fields in relation to the challenges of men
especially "mama's boys" (www.josephmalinak.com). I believe that success is
very frequently, if not always a product of powerful fields. For example,
seeing the recent film "Miracles" about the US victory over the Soviets, one
leaves the movie feeling this was less an example of a miracle than it was an
example of a coach who was able to systematically create a powerful, even
invincible field around this team which resulted in the victory. It has
reminded me of great coaching successes in the US such as that of Vince
Lombardi in Green Bay, leadership successes such as General George Patton's or
President John Kennedy's that resulted in almost fanatical loyalty or spiritual
mentors such as Mother Teresa beloved around the world in all religions. Each
was able to create a powerful field. Obviously, Bert Hellinger has had that
ability, to create a powerful field around a body of work.
I have felt that this group, Constellation Talk, is an effective tool for
assisting in the development of a field around this work primarily in Australia
but secondarily around the world. For that reason alone I personally hope the
group continues. Not only do we gain personally from the sharing - even those
of us who have yet to share - but we also contribute to the growth and
development of a Family System Constellations field. Chris has participated in
the creation of a fertile environment for the development of a "family." That
"family" field will contribute to drawing in clients and to the spiritual and
emotional growth of Australian practioners.
I feel that one difficulty in the US is the obvious lack of unity; there is
no unified "field" around this work. It appears that most of us are out there
trying to make a living perhaps sometimes feeling that there aren't enough
clients to go around. Generally I sense a feeling of desperation around the
immediate situation and not a understanding of the importance of jointly
building for the future. Certainly I must acknowledge my colleague, Sheila
Saunders, who has been working and thinking continuously in that direction as
have others. But as of yet the field is languishing and ultimately it is this
field that will bring in more clients than brochures or flyers, though those
are certainly important as well.

So I have a question for all of you out there. What methods besides
personal contact and flyers have you used to successfully entice people to
attend workshops? Does any specific wording or workshop titles work
spectacularly well? My first one a year ago was attended by 11 people and 6 of
them did constellations, but that was with someone else setting it up and
convincing all her friends to attend. I'm in USA, and right now I'm doing
4-hour workshops and get one or two people to do constellations at each. I just
began at a specific location 3 months ago, so I expect by next year things will
be different, but any ideas would be appreciated.
