Thanks for good info on these pedals and will definitely check them out. Obviously it all comes down to taste and what kind of guitar amp you are going through but generally speaking, when using a good amp I dont want or need anything to color the sound. The tube screamer has been good in the past for giving a little more boost without any extreme coloring. If you have a solid state amp or lousy sounding tube amp you might really need something to change the tone if you don't like the sound of your amp but for me, I don't really want to change the tone of my Nomad or any other tube amps I have to any great degree; just a little more umph. Cool delay pedals include anything from Strymon, like, "The Brigadier", "The El Capistan", or "The Timeline", mind you, the Timeline is seriously blind unfriendly, but soundwise its to die for...

As for your penchants for the TubeScreamer, you've gotta checkout Analog Man's Ibanez modz, Maxon, modz & his Boss SD-1 & BD-2 modz, they make your regular TubeScreamer totally redundant!

Personally, I think the TubeScreamer pedals are complete crap, but these mods really do some magic!

i would be interested to hear what you found to be a good stomp box for either delay or reverbs. Am convinced that there is just no pedal that i'm going to care for when it comes to overdrive except maybe the Tube Screamer or the mesa Boogie pedal. I do have the VG99 and that has some decent sounds, but still nothing like going through my Boogie and using microphone. Everything else sounds to squeezed and not natural. In fact, surprised to say, so far best mic for recording my amp so far has been plain old Sm57, though have other nicer microphones that can handle the levels. Thanks in advance for any suggestions on cool delay pedal. Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Christer" <christer.christer@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I know what you mean 'bout Line 6's unquestionably fizzy tendencies, in fact, I've never really gotten a perfectly clean tone out of one, the last one I bought was the XT Pro Rack.

Do you use any O/D pedals, & if so, which?

I've been on a tone quest since August 2010, & I've bought somewhere in the region of 35 different pedals, from pretty much every boutique producer, obviously, some I've returned, but I've ended up with a rather considerable collection...

So, if you're interested in my opinions on any?

Hi Jay.
Here's a difficult question. How does it "feel" playing through the HD500?

I havne't been a fan of Line6 in the past, because I always felt an odd disconnect between what my hands were doing ontthe guitar, and what my ears were hearing. It sounded fine if someone else played through the same gear, but I always felt like I was across the room from the amp or something.

But, that was with older POD's and amps, and I gather there is several times the DSP horsepower in the new HD units. So it probably responds a lot better.

How are the slightly broken up tones, like a slightly distorted Fender type sound? That's the area where my Digitek RP1000 doesn't quite have it. The clean tones are great, and so ar ethe high gain metal or hard rock tones. But that smoother slightly distorted bluesy thing seems to be harder to get.

thanks
Chris
