One thing I'm waiting for, is a software version of the Motif XS. There's a
few electric piano sounds that I'm looking for, and the Yamaha company said
they might be on the Motif XS.

I'm still waiting for somebody to do a software emulation of the
synclavier's fm synth. I really think that would be a novel approach that
would yield some really unique sounds, and conceptually it was really easy
to create sounds from scratch on it. It didn't have filters, so adding
filters to it would be an added bonus.

Yep. Virtual analog has been so done to death that we've already heard as
good as it is going to get for many years, if ever. People should give up
and make something new.
The real reason that we get so many of those type of synth plugs is because
they're cheap as crap to produce. Anything sample based requires either
producing your own sample library (which is very expensive), or else
licensing samples from someone else (which is still expensive for anything
quality). Many of the companies that have been doing sampling professionally
for the longest, and do it the best (like the big 3: Yamaha, Korg, and
Roland), won't license their material to you under any terms or at any cost.
Its so easy to just throw together another synth that uses computationally
produced sounds, with a slightly different interface for controlling how it
all works. Most of the code for doing all of that (generating waveforms,
digital signal processing, simple effects algorithms) is already public
domain, so bedroom software companies can slap a lot of existing building
blocks together, put a UI on it, and start selling. If you're one of those
guys, the only way you get noticed in the big sea of options is to pay for
promotion, like paying Cakewalk to be featured in their news letter so to
get you visibility and some perceived cred.
If you all have money to spend, go buy the new sample packs for Dimension
Pro. At least those won't sound like synths that you already have, and with
CakeTalking, you'll be able to edit those presets (good luck with
accessibility of this new synth).

Lol! Nice post man... It's something I've wondered for a while, why do
companies insist in reproducing the sounds of the old stuff, (yeah it's
sounds cool and some of those sounds are awesome), but can we sort of focus
on making new stuff, using all this computer power to make something
different, as oppose to trying to accurately reproduce every ocilator and
technology of the hardware stuff? Hardware is hardware, software is
software; some of the factors of those old synths can not be reproduced,
there's just that factor of electronics and circuits that change so randomly
and depending on so many different factors that.... It's kind of a waste of
time... I'd rather have a completely digital synth that focuses on that
realm and does it well, instead of trying to imitate/reproduce 10 different
synths from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, etc...
