Hey Mike, It wasn't the fact of turning the voice guide off, however I was
able to set how the guide responded while pressing buttons during recording,
so your right about that.

James,

You can't turn the voice guidance off on the Plextalk; and you wouldn't want
to as there's no screen. It's definitely a unit designed for totally blind
people. The voice guidance volume has a minimum setting so as not to lose it
completely. This would be one situation where a sighted person wouldn't be
able to help somebody out; ironic, huh?

There are ways to get around this little dilemma for sure; it's just a
matter of what's best for a particular setup. I have a very basic 4-channel
powered mixer that I use for gigs, and there aren't any mute switches. I
have to turn things down when I need to access the player to get my songs
up. Until something else comes along, the Plextalk is probably the best
thing going. I think that Olympus still has some digital recorders that have
decent voice guidance, but I don't know if they can be configured to keep
the voice internal when you're using output jacks.

Cheers!

Mike
