You can turn off the guidance when you're recording so that the internal mic doesn't pick it up; then it resumes when you stop recording. It's a neat feature, but I don't usually hit any buttons when I'm recording. In fact, I find that I'm transferring files from my computer to the Plextalk more than physically recording with the unit.

I was able to turn this off with mine during a recording, however I don't
remember how I did it.
