Iv'e never had any problems with esternal firewire drives being on or
off.  I never fire up my system without my midi and audio intefaces on,
so wouldn't know there.

Well said, Damon.  Indeed, there is a growing list of hardware gadgets
which we blind musicians are beginning to use.  It would be unreasonable
to expect any screen reader manufacturer to acquire each one of them.
That's where we can help.
 
The people at FS would like to find a general solution to this problem
but, until a general solution can be found, they're going to have to
build a reference list of gear that is known to be in use and which
should not interfere in any way with the JAWS authorization process.
 
Thanks for whatever assistance you can provide here.  Sure, we're
helping FS but consider that we are helping them to try to help us and
all blind musicians.
