I guess its all about how you use it... I, for instance, simply use it for recording song ideas/riffs.I don't see Sonar as just a plain old sequencer at all, for me, Cubase v2.0 along with an old Atari ST, was a quote sequencer quote, if you know wot I mean?

If you're attempting to play a difficult instrument part that begins at bar 32, for example, then you can set now time to 30, hit record, wait for the two bars of pre-roll, and play. If you mess up, you stop, hit un-do, and hit record again. Depending on the project, you might not even need to hit un-do, and could simply be in over-write record mode. Then, each time you wanted to try the take again, you could just press space to stop and hit record to have another pass. 2. If you're recording drum parts, you might want to play them in as layers. In sound-on-sound mode, you can set yourself to a point before the place where the drums will begin, hit record, play a part like hats, press stop, press record, play kick, press stop, press record, play snare, etc etc. Since you always start from the same place, you can go over it and over it until it is fine, and you're ready to move on to another part of the project. Mixing: If you're trying to work out levels in a particular section, you can make adjustments, press play to listen, press stop, make changes, press play to hear the same section again, and so-on. Of course, any of this stuff could also be accomplished by using markers or, in some cases, using the from/through time as a type of quick place marker. The now return feature, though, allows you to accomplish the return/record/return/record/etc type tasks with fewer keystrokes, though. Of course, this isn't the best working approach for everyone, and that's why you can turn it off. It's on by default because, no matter what else you can do with it, Sonar is first and foremost a sequencer. I was aware of that, I dunno why she doesn't check that little box in options/global instead? Then one press of the space bar will stop the project at the quote now quote position, instead of having to press 2 keys at once? I mean, if you want your project to always return to 0 when you press the space bar, its just as quick to press W, Why make life more of a hassle?----- Original Message ----- From: "Phil Muir" <ddots@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

That keyboard shortcut enables the user to stop a project in Sonar at
a
specific point. to
find out how the new system works. It really seems there are bunch of cool new things to learn... But I have one very serious problem. I don't know why, but CTRL key does not work properly in Sonar. Changing keyboard layout to English does not help, I can't
find
anything I could change... but for example if I try to press ctrl+space for stopping my project, Jaws says "Play" and it just continues to play. Any ideas what I could do?
